Inklings - Jahrbuch für Literatur und Ästhetik erscheint seit 1983. Es bildet ein Forum für wissenschaftliche Aufsätze zur fantastischen Literatur aller Nationen von den Anfängen bis zur unmittelbaren Gegenwart, insbesondere aber zu den Autoren des Oxforder Inklings-Kreises (J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams u.a.) und deren Anregern wie George MacDonald und G.K. Chesterton. Die Beiträge sind nicht auf literaturwissenschaftliche Themen beschränkt, sondern beleuchten auch philosophische, theologische, kunst- und musikgeschichtliche, medienkundliche, soziologische und pädagogische Aspekte. Etwa zwei Drittel der Aufsätze dokumentieren die Beiträge zu den alljährlich stattfindenden Symposien der Inklings-Gesellschaft. Unter den allgemeinen Artikeln bietet einer (unter der Überschrift "The Poet's Eye") eine Interpretation eines Gedichts fantastischen Inhalts, ein weiterer ("Favourite Authors") eine Vorstellung eines weniger bekannten Autors (bzw. einer Autorin) von fantastischer Literatur. Am Ende jedes Bandes stehen Besprechungen von Neuerscheinungen, vorwiegend im Bereich der Forschung zur fantastischen Literatur; sie machen etwa ein Viertel des Gesamtumfangs aus. Alle Aufsätze erscheinen entweder in deutscher oder in englischer Sprache, jeweils mit Zusammenfassungen in beiden Sprachen.
Das Inklings-Jahrbuch kann über den Buchhandel bezogen werden sowie direkt vom Peter Lang Verlag. Mitglieder der Inklings-Gesellschaft erhalten das Jahrbuch kostenlos. Inklings Yearbooks
The Inklings Yearbook (Inklings - Jahrbuch für Literatur und Ästhetik) has appeared regularly since 1983. It is a forum for scholarly articles on fantastic literatures of all nations from the beginnings to the present, with special regard to the authors of the Oxford Inklings (J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams and others) and to their predecessors like George MacDonald and G.K. Chesterton. The articles are not restricted to literary criticism; they also deal with philosophical, theological, sociological and pedagogical aspects, with the arts, music, and the new media. About two thirds of the articles document the proceedings of the annual symposiums of the Inklings Society. Among general articles, one (under the heading “The Poet’s Eye”) presents an analysis of a poem of fantastic content, another (“Favourite Authors”) offers an introduction to an undeservedly neglected author of fantastic literature. About one quarter of each volume is dedicated to reviews, mostly of scholarly books dealing with fantastic literature. Articles are either in German or in English and are preceded by abstracts in both languages.
